Mature Birders' Delight
Attesting to the growing popularity of birding among ageing baby boomers, AARP Magazine (I’m giving away my age here) has a Web Exclusive devoted to birds and birding. The subject of birding is introduced to readers in a fine article by Jennifer Uscher. The site is supplemented by Kenn Kaufmann’s Birding Top 10 favorite experiences, a curiously short glossary of Bird Words, a beginning birder’s Resource Guide, and a section on Birding Travel.
The site also includes a Virtual Birding feature where viewers can see 10 Common Birds and 10 Dream Birds (the rare and elusive). My favorite was Name the Tune, a multiple-choice game in which you must guess the identify of the singing bird.
