Mockingbird Stars in Major Supporting Role

Last evening, my daughter and went to see Failure to Launch, starring Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker. A delightful comedy with many great comedy lines. I was delightfully surprised by the subplot involving Zooey Deschanel's character (Kit), who is plagued by an incessently singing mockingbird that is keeping her awake at night and generally driving her crazy.

My favorite line: "I'm not goving to sell you that shotgun. Mockingbirds are protected by the Federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act."

My favorite scene: Mouth to beak resuscitation (successful) of a mockingbird after it has been stunned by a pellet from a BB gun.

The fadeout scene shows Kit and her new boyfriend Ace (played by Justin Bartha) crouching in the bushes in full camouflage gear watching birds, he with binoculars and she busily writing notes in a field notebook.
