Seeking Answers to One of Life’s Universal Questions

What is it about (a) the game of volleyball or (b) differences in physique between the sexes that requires female volleyball players of all ages to wear very skimpy and extremely tight-fitting shorts (video) while males are able play the same game equally well (apparently) in baggy shorts (video)? Does it seem to you like there is a double standard here?

No. It absolutely does not seem to be a double standard. Just leave it alone.

Thank you.

I'm still confused as to why members of the two sexes playing the same sport wear such radically different uniforms, and why those of the females are so much skimpier than those of the males. Isn't that sexist?

Yes, it is sexist. Sex runs the world. Everything is sex. Bird colors are sex. Advertising is sex. Mens's thoughts are all sex, every 20 seconds.

Feminism won. It won the right to jobs and to show off their bodies. People forget that last part. Remember when men kept women cloistered? In many ways they did.

But women are free now.

Thank you.

Probably sexism and mating rituals ... but .. maybe not.

Our "meat and two veggies" need room to move, while their two bobs need support so they don't play soccer with them in old age. We are built different and feel better with less or more support as a consequence.

P.S.: This blog is always a fun read!

That's a funny response, Patrick, and thanks for the compliment. But the fact is, you don't want our "meat and two veggies" to flop around during vigorous physical activity, hence the athletic supporter. And I think sports bras are designed to provide the same sort of support for their "two bobs." None of those answers explain why females need to play the game in such skimpy shorts. Do girl volleyball players don that ridiculous looking attire willingly or are they forced to by people in authority (i.e., coaches and school administrators)?
