Hey, John.
I got mine just before the elections. I was about to slap it on my car the night before I went on my first official Orange (county Florida) Audubon field trip but thought twice.
After many posts on local birding lists I had gathered that most of the folks I would encounter the next day would be new contacts and I thought it might be a bit of the boat unsettling right off the bat.
I was right. 5 cars were there at dawn just befroe me and all sported some form of "W' stickers. Not surprising since the majority of my fellow Florida birders are older Northern transplants with cash flowing out of their high-powered lenes and snappy vehicles.
At the end of the feildtrip most of the members took off. The remaining lots of us turned out to be of the same poltical bent. All Dems. I thought that was interesting.
The folks that really were jazzed about birds beyond just whipping through an area stuck around to do MORE birding. The "W"s all got what they came for and bolted.
I was told I should have done the sticker by them. Shoulda.
I had no such reservations after that encounter and many brief discussions have followed.
BTW, I just posted my tag response. Thanks for finding me.
Take care and Happy Birding,
Andrew
cool sticker! off to order mine right now :)
By putting one these stickers on their car, birders can start sending the message that their interests extend beyond merely ticking species off their lists. I hope to start spotting lots of these bumper stickers in the near future.
