Random Gleanings from the Birdsphere #7

Introduction: A daily (or as often as I can find time to compile it) feature that highlights recent entries from North American bird blogs listed in my blogroll; also see here.

Featured Blog of the Day:
Carolina IvoryBills – “One girl’s attempt to do the impossible: Document the existence of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker in the Carolinas,” by Christen in North Carolina (online since March 2006) [this blog is inactive—the last entry having been posted on September 21, 2006—and shows no signs of being revived any time soon]
Featured Entry of the Day (excerpt):

Yes, Carolina Ivorybills appeared briefly during the highs of the IBWO fiasco. She had all the beak measuring equipement and everything. I really thought she was going to break this case wide open.

Then she just disappeared. Been wondering about her myself. Do we need to send a search party?

Not to worry. The apparent demise of Carolina IvoryBills is a fate shared by many blogs as the press of other activities or new interests inhibits the creative process. New blogs come and go every day. That's just the way it is.
