Louisiana's Waders: 2007 Louisiana Bird Calendar

For the second year in a row, I am the fortunate recipient of a calendar produced by the Barataria-Terrebone National Estuary Program, thanks to a generous contribution from ConocoPhillips. The introductory pages cover the following topics:
  • What is a wading bird?
  • Wading birds in Louisiana
  • Wading birds & colonial nesting
  • Nuptial plumage
  • Bird watching dates to remember
  • Birds-of-the-month (each illustrated in a ravishing full-color photograph) are as follows:
  • January - Ibises
  • February - Great Egret
  • March - Night-Herons
  • April - Roseate Spoonbill
  • May - Cattle Egret
  • June - Snowy Egret
  • July - Little Blue Heron
  • August - Wood Stork
  • September - Green Heron
  • October - Reddish Egret
  • November - Great Blue Heron
  • December - Tricolored Heron
  • The back page has a map of America's Wetland Birding Trail, which spans the wetlands of Louisiana's Gulf Coast.

This lovely calendar will occupy a place of honor in our home.

I got the calendar too, it is very nice. Any idea how they found people to send them to?

I have no idea, Drew, but suspect that they must have found our names on a bird- or conservation-related mailing list somewhere.
