Great Backyard Bird Count

The Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society recently issued a joint press release announcing the successful completion of the ninth annual Great Backyard Bird Count, which took place throughout the U.S. and Canada February 17-20. It was a record-breaking event, as participants tallied 623 species and 7.5 million individual birds. Highlights from around the continent are summarized here.
